 Round 1, Pick 23
#23 Alec Ogletree OLB Georgia
I realize the popular pick is a WR here. If our playoff loss taught us anything on the defensive side it’s that we can be exposed by our LB core. This isn’t a knock on Greenway (who tackled everything this year), but I believe his stats are more based on a lack of help around him instead of elite talent. Ogletree (like Brian Urlacher) is a former safety who is a little undersized, but has all the skills needed to be a legitimate interior player for us.
Round 2, Pick 21
#43
Eric Reid FS LSU
Reid is a stud and although he was not as steady game to game as I would have liked this season, he is an all-around player who would be a huge upgrade alongside Harrison Smith. He brings a similar hard hitting, ball hawking presence as Smith and the tandem could strike fear in the hearts of NFC North wideouts for years.
    Round 3, Pick 23
#83
Travis Frederick C/G Wisconsin
No, the Vikings do not need the top rated center to replace Sullivan. Frederick has the size (6-4, 340), smarts, and quickness to play anywhere on the line. The Vikings always love multidimensional players and Frederick is the epitome of that for an offensive lineman.
Round 4, Pick 7
#99
Da’Rick Rogers WR Tennessee Tech
Stop me if you have heard this one before. Vikings draft other-worldly talented WR with a host of character concerns and turn him into a top tier producer. At 6’2 215lbs (and a mid 4.4 40), Rogers has an excellent opportunity to come in and start immediately.
Round 4, Pick 23
#117
Akeem Spence DT Illinois
Even if the Vikings are able to restructure Kevin Williams’ contract, making oves to help the interior D-line is a necessity. Spence is large and stout enough to stay on the field and produce.
Round 5, Pick 23
#148
Leon McFadden CB San Diego State
The Viking secondary needs to continue their youth movement. McFadden is an underrated corner who is athletic and quick enough to make up for his sub – 6′ size.
 Round 7, Pick 8
#198
Alonzo Highsmith OLB Arkansas
Although Drew is partial to Jelani Jenkins, I like Highsmith here, as his stock has fallen since his foot injury. If the name sounds familiar it’s not by accident, his dad (of the same name) was an NFL running back for seven years.
 Round 7, Pick 23
#213
Dennis Johnson RB Arkansas
The shifty back would be an excellent third down and special teams contributor. Catches the ball well out of the backfield and ran well in each of the past two seasons (5.5 and 6.3 yards per carry).
